Cheryl Cole Might Return to The X-Factor

We know Cheryl Cole is ridiculously gorgeous. But that's about all we can say for certain right now about the British pop singer.

Over the past few weeks, Cole has been hired as a judge for the U.S. version of The X-Factor, then promptly let go after just a few days of audition and now... well, it's all a bit unclear.

Over the weekend, Fox and producer Freemantle called Cole's manager and reportedly said they “want to ensure she still has a role on the show,” even if it's in a limited capacity.

One big reason why? Cheryl will be paid her $1.5 million contract regardless of whether or not she appears on air.

But an insider tells EW "this is not about playing games" and the network really does want to reach an amicable solution with Cole, who was widely considered the most popular panelist on Britain's original version of this show.

“Simon Cowell’s only concern is he wants to make sure everything is done right by Cheryl,” says a source, while another claims reports that Cole was flat out fired were incorrect; the two sides both agreed she was "wasn't quite herself" during auditions and might want to return to England.

Man. We thought The X-Factor was a singing competition, not a soap opera.
