Michael Jackson Estate Seeks Insurance Payout

The Michael Jackson estate is believes Lloyd's of London owes it $17.5 million for an insurance policy on the singer's "This Is it" tour, and wants it ASAP.

Lloyd's issued the policy to cover potential losses for MJ's 2009 concerts, which were set to begin just weeks after the star passed away at age 50.

Earlier this year, the company asked an L.A. court to declare the policy null and void, claiming MJ lied about his medical history and drug addiction.

The estate? Not pleased by that move.

Lloyd's insists the policy "was restricted to losses resulting from accident only" and points out that Michael's official cause of death was "homicide."

Dr. Conrad Murray faces involuntary manslaughter charges stemming from the star's untimely death, and will be tried beginning in September.

The estate counters in a cross-complaint that MJ obviously never intended to die, by homicide or not, so his death still qualifies as an accident.

Forget the $17.5 million, the estate is now seeking punitive damages for its trouble. Short story? Lloyd's had better have some good attorneys.

David Letterman Targeted For Death By Jihadists

David Letterman was the target of a death threat in posts on an extremist networking site frequented by al-Qaeda, according to SITE Intelligence Group.

The private company, which trolls the web for possible terrorist activity, reported the call to "cut the tongue of this lowly Jew and shut it forever."

This frightening threat is believed to have arisen after Letterman, who is not Jewish, cracked a joke on Late Show perceived as offensive to Islam.

"He showed his evil nature and deep hatred for Islam and Muslims, and said that Ilyas Kashmiri was killed and he joined bin Laden," Umar al-Basrawi, which is probably not this lowlife's real name, wrote online.

"We ask Allah to paralyze his tongue and grant the sincere monotheists his neck."

Analysts perceived the diatribe against Letterman as "a more explicit threat" than a similar one aimed at South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone.

A rep for Letterman's Worldwide Pants production company respectfully declined to comment, but SITE is advising the funnyman to be on his guard.

But why? Why did the estranged husband of Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Taylor Armstrong take his own life? It's a question that will never have an answer, but two theories have emerged:

1. Money problems. Russell was facing a $1.5 million lawsuit, had no assets to his name and told People weeks before his death: "It got really overwhelming. When you get a TV show involved and all the pressure, it just takes it to a whole new level."

2. A tell-all book was reportedly on the way, according to Radar Online, that would have exposed Russell as a bisexual.

"There were people on the record that were going to talk about the kind of sex he liked," a source said. "He was into S&M type stuff; choking, rough-housing and slapping."

We hate to gossip in such a manner about the dead, but at times like this, it's hard not to wonder. Bravo, meanwhile, might delay the premiere of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills as it considers all options in dealing with this tragedy.
